The Mariposa Ring
A Study in Form and Origin.
The elongated form draws a deliberate line down the finger. You notice it before you reach for it.
The stone is Mariposite, named for California's Mariposa County, a landscape rooted in the Sierra Nevada foothills and the history of America's gold country. Deep green, marked by pale mineral formations that hold their pattern without repeating. Its name carries a connection to that remarkable landscape, while the stone itself has a character entirely its own.
I knew immediately it needed warmth around it. Not silver. Brass. Something that would pull the green forward rather than cool it down. The sculptural bezel holds the stone without interrupting it. Four strands join into a substantial band below, built to carry the length of the stone with balance and intention.
There is nothing delicate about Mariposa's presence. Nothing unnecessary about her form.
She belongs to the woman who has developed an eye for what suits her. Who doesn't need everything she wears to make a statement. Who simply knows what is hers when she sees it.
One stone. One interpretation. One of One.
